Solicitor of England & Wales · Advocate of the High Court of Kenya · Founder, Alium Law LLP

A Solicitor of England & Wales, Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and founder of Alium Law LLP, with more than twenty years of legal, banking, governance and commercial experience.
He supports individuals, families, entrepreneurs and businesses navigating legal and commercial matters between the United Kingdom and Kenya.
His career combines the rigour of a UK-trained lawyer with on-the-ground knowledge of the Kenyan and East African commercial environment. This makes him uniquely placed to advise clients operating across both jurisdictions.
His legal career spans private practice in both the United Kingdom and Kenya, with a sustained focus on cross-border transactions, property, succession and commercial matters affecting individuals, families and businesses.
As Legal Counsel at Barclays, he advised on complex banking, regulatory and commercial transactions from within the institution. This in-house perspective gave him a practical understanding of how legal advice translates into commercial decisions, risk management and operational execution. He brings that same commercial discipline into every engagement.
He has advised boards, shareholders and management teams on governance structures, risk frameworks and regulatory compliance. His governance work spans corporate clients, investors and family businesses, supporting leadership to operate with accountability, clarity and long-term stability. He has served in board-level advisory capacities and understands the responsibilities that come with directing organisations across jurisdictions.
Working at the intersection of the UK, Kenya and the wider East African market, he supports investors and businesses on market entry, structuring and cross-border commercial strategy.
He combines a practitioner's eye with leadership experience built across legal, banking and advisory environments, bringing measured judgment to sensitive and high-stakes matters.
He founded Alium Law LLP in Kenya as a boutique practice focused on responsive, client-led legal advisory. It is the foundation on which Alium International is built.
Allan began his legal career in Kenya, practising as an advocate of the High Court and developing a deep understanding of local law, land systems and commercial practice. He later moved into an in-house role at Barclays, where he advised on complex banking, regulatory and cross-border transactions. After qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales, he built a practice advising clients operating between the UK, Kenya and the wider East African region.
This progression, from Kenyan advocate to UK solicitor via a major international bank, gives him an uncommon perspective. He understands not only the legal frameworks of both jurisdictions, but also the practical realities of doing business across borders.
Beyond legal practice, Allan has founded and developed legal and professional service businesses. He understands the challenges that entrepreneurs, investors and growing organisations face, from structuring and governance to scaling operations across jurisdictions.
This hands-on experience informs his advisory approach. He brings not only legal expertise but also a practical understanding of what it takes to build, manage and protect a business.
Alium Law LLP was built in Kenya as a boutique practice with strong client relationships and a reputation for responsive, considered advice. Over time, a growing share of those clients were operating internationally, from UK diaspora managing family property to investors and businesses pursuing opportunities in East Africa.
Alium International Legal Services was established as the international-facing sister brand of Alium Law LLP. It is a UK-based advisory practice built for cross-border clients, supported by deep on-the-ground experience in Kenya and the wider region.
The aim is straightforward: to help clients navigate matters between the UK, Kenya and East Africa with clarity, integrity and a practical commercial perspective.
